I set out to make serous miner with 6x Radeon 6970. Up until now I have only built SLI rigs in standard cases so this required some additional planning. I searched eBay etc and there is nothing commercially available to buy to hold 6 cards. Its time to build my own.

Using the dimensions of the EVGA 1300 PSU and the Radeon 6970 I marked out the frame, leaving a 4cm gap between cards for air flow.

The Radeon 6970 graphics card are installed evenly spaced out to allow air flow but not to close to the power supply’s that it interferes with the PSU air supply. We don’t need components fighting over air flow as this creates noise.

I line up the ASRock H81 in the base of the rig and use the brass mounting points left over from a old standard ATX case to mount the mother board.

PCI-e raiser cables are used to connect the Graphics cards to the H81 and power on, reset and LED extension leads allow me to power on and see activity easily
