Gridseed G-Blade – Fan Mod

The fan on the G-blade was noisy and made it difficult to chat in the same room. if you had a few of these unit in close proximity then you may find your self shouting to be heard. Fan mod time!!

When changing fans always watch the temps very closely for the first few hours. you do not want your nice new miner overheating and burning out. The fan comes off easy with just 4 normal mounting screws but take care when removing the power not to pull the holding clip from the board.

The basic fan that was installed on all the unit I was involved with (20 or so units) all had fans by the manufacture “SNOW” and where standard PC style 92mm case fans. Here is the Snow fan showing 74.6dB

Here we can see a significant drop in noise level even with a random unbranded PC fan I had spare. dB level now down to 67dB’s

Now to try with an expensive fan, first with the Noctua and we can see a further drop to 65.9dB

And now with a not so expensive Artic Cooler fan. This recorded the quietest level of only 62.9dB
